How To Become The Next Heavy Hitter In Your MLM

If you have been involved in the MLM industry for even a small amount of time you have most likely heard the term ‘Heavy Hitter’. You know who I’m talking about, those folks that are making a mind boggling and ridiculous amount of money and that are always up on stage at the company events. Basically, the term Heavy Hitter is synonymous with fame and fortune.

 

The sad part is that very few Network Marketers achieve Heavy Hitter status. When I say few, I mean a finite number so miniscule that it is almost too embarrassing to mention. However, I’m writing this article in an attempt to educate my fellow network marketer; therefore, I will gladly reveal the numbers. Fact is, only about 2% of Network Marketers actually achieve that status.

 

I know what you’re saying. “With those statistics, why should I even try to become a heavy hitter? It seems like a daunting task.” Well, not to worry. Through the power of the internet, using forums just like this, we are about to undertake a paradigm shift where the knowledge that only the heavy hitters had, is now being disseminated to the common networker like you & I. This shift is creating a new term called “The New Rich” (I’ll have a separate article on that at a later date). Basically, it means the new heavy hitter.

 

This new breed of network marketers, are actually implementing the word ‘marketing’ in network marketing. We are no longer solely relying on the numbers, or speaking to enough people during the day so that we get on a list, I like to call, the NFL (no friends left) list. These new up & coming heavy hitters are creating wealth at a totally different level. The old, “No is a good thing, because it means you are that much closer to a yes”, is becoming a thing of the past. Heavy hitters are solely working with prospects that sorted them out & asked them for more information about what they are promoting.

 

In order to be a heavy hitter, you must become a student again. Unlike the old days in network marketing, the techniques being implemented these days for success are actually being taught. Be careful when selecting these MLM trainings. There are a lot of so called ‘gurus’ out there. Make sure that the training is actually backed by some sort of substantial guarantee. Do your research, purchase samples of their work before you actually sign up for any training. Hint: If their program does not offer any samples, then they are truly not heavy hitters.

 

Another important factor to look for while searching for a good MLM training program is to ensure they offer mindset type courses. Aside from the marketing skill set that you must obtain, understanding your mind & thinking like an entrepreneur is absolutely paramount in your quest to become a heavy hitter. Just ask Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Martha Stewart, etc., how important mindset is.

    “How You Can Make Money in Network Marketing…Even If 90% Of Your Prospects Say NO!”

    Network Marketing is based on a business model where people are supposed to have short term pain for long term gain. People are suppose to work their business really hard for at least a year, without any expectation of making any money, and then they should be able to start to see enough profits to allow them to have a desire to keep going. However, that rarely happens.

    People get involved in network marketing because they went to a hotel meeting, got  excited about what the guest speaker informed them about the company, signed up as a distributor, then expect to be millionaires in 30 days. When reality hits them & they are not millionaires, they tend to blame the company or the industry & use the common phrase, “This Doesn’t Work”.

    Now, I can talk about these folk’s business philosophies all day long but that would get me off topic, so I won’t go there. Moving right along, if there was a way for people to get paid while they are prospecting people, then they wouldn’t run out of money while they are trying to build their business.

    “Most People Run Out Of Money So They Give Up On Their Dreams”

    They run out because they are buying a lot of useless products from the company. Network Marketers buy a bunch of tools that supposedly will help them grow their business, however most of those tools will get thrown away. That’s a waste of time and money, if you ask me.

    If you recall, during my previous post, we talked about “Attraction Marketing”; attracting people to you instead of you hunting for people all the time. So, how do you attract people to you? You offer them something they are looking for to satisfy their needs.

    Here some examples:
    • A Travel Agent may sell a “How To” book to people on “How To Properly Use Your Frequent Flyer Miles” 
    • A dentist may sell a “How To” book to people on “How to effectively avoid root canals” 
    • A chef may be able to give away some useful information on “The proper way to prepare an Angus steak”

    Anyway, I’m sure you get the point. They sell those products, not to become rich, but to draw the people that are interested in those products/services in to you. Those are the people you are ultimately looking for. They are ready to get recruited and they will buy your products every time.

    There is a specific formula a network marketer must use in order to be effective at this technique. Think about it,

    What if a network marketer was able to sell a small front end “How To” product and make $10 to over 30-50 people per month?

    Then, they astutely utilize the money to run a bigger advertising campaign to recruit more people. Now wouldn’t that network marketer be in a better position to build their business?

    I think so. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to do that to be successful and always get paid to prospect people, just like in any business.

    “Attraction Marketing 101…Learn the basics”

    So, what is “Attraction Marketing”?

    Attraction Marketing, is when a marketer uses tools and tactics to attract people to them; to become the hunted instead of the hunter. I know you are asking yourself, How does that happen?  Well, I’ll get to that in a minute. The fact is that attraction marketing is something that many network marketers don’t know how to do.

    Answer this question: Why don’t the best network marketers spend their time in malls or at grocery stores trying to recruit people? Why don’t they spend their time going to 2-3 meetings each week?

    Bluntly stated, because those methods flat out suck and they have already mastered the highly coveted practice of Attraction Marketing.

    Tell me if this looks familiar:
    1) Make a name list
    2) Call all those people on the list to have them go to a meeting
    3) Attend 1-2 meetings per week (That’s your commitment right?)
    4) Hand out business cards
    5) Hand out DVD’s, magazines, flyers, etc.

    These are things that are done by someone that doesn’t know any better. They are new to the game. One of my mentors once said, “They don’t do better because they don’t know better, and they won’t know better cause they won’t do better”. So, when people are network marketing they will do what they are told. But the biggest problem is that most network marketers quit after 30 – 90 days.

    A network marketers do all the 5 things I listed above, and more just to get people interested in their product or service. But most people don’t care about their product or service. People care more about what that product or service can do for them, but we’ll talk more about that further down the road in another posting. Let me finish with this point.

    It can get a bit tiresome doing the same things day-in-day-out with little or no results. I mean I did that for years. Why? Because my upline used to tell me:
    “Exposure Is Everything, But The Fortune Is In The Follow-up”

    So, I knew that if I exposed my opportunity to a lot of people then I would recruit more people. Boy, was I wrong.

    See, it doesn’t matter if you expose your opportunity to 1000 people.  If those 1000 people were not interested, or maybe they didn’t even have a clue as to how to get going with something like this, then your end result will be a negative one.  Zero recruits.  

     

    Think of it as taking a vegeterian to Ruth’s Chris or Mortons steakhouses.  No matter what you do or say to explain how tasty & juicy the filet mignon or the New York strips are, the vegetarian couldn’t care less.

    Same concept, in network marketing.  I use to introduce & invite between 5-7 people to each opportunity meeting. However, my businesses didn’t massively explode because it’s not about the number of people you expose, it’s about the audience we are exposing the information to.

    I wasn’t exposing the right people to my opportunity. Yeah, I talked to people from all walks of life; upper class, middle class, and lower class. They all had one thing in common. They all had a desire to make more money however, many of them didn’t have enough desire to take action.

    So, with all of this knowledge that I obtained from exposing people I got to thinking there must be a better way to attract the people to my business that are not only hungry for an opportunity, but willing to take action at the same time. That’s when I learned more about “Attraction Marketing”.

    Think about this…

    Nobody who bought a drill actually wanted a drill.They wanted a hole.Therefore, if you want to sell drills, you should advertise information about making holes – NOT information about drills!” – Perry Marshall.
    Those lines got me to thinking. If I wanted to recruit the best of the best so my business could grow, then I would have to somehow attract the people to my business that are already in the network marketing as well, or they are faithfully looking for an opportunity.

    That’s when I learned more about “Magnetic Sponsoring”.

    An exciting and new marketing concept. What every struggling MLM Distributor needs

    My name is Frank Demming and I used to be just like most inexperienced network marketers out there.  I tried opportunity after opportunity and didn’t get anywhere with neither of them.  As most of us do, I basically blamed the product and my upline, for my lack of success.

    I spent well over $35,000 on marketing tools, courses, and going to “Big Events” all being hosted by my company.

    I did all of that, because of one thing…

    I was told that I had to it if I wanted to be successful. But nobody told me that I was using outdated marketing methods.
    Someone answer this question: How can someone be so determined and loyal and still not make any money?
    Well, that was me. As mentioned above, I went to every event, took notes, followed everything my upline told me, but yet, I struggled to make a 3 digit number on my monthly check.

    I got so frustrated with that sad reality that I gave up; not on the industry, but on those companies.  I am glad I did, because it allowed me to take a step back & truly study this home-based business thing.  I kept asking myself, “Is this a legitimate business model, or is it just an expensive hobby?”

    I spent the next 8 months searching for the best training material available, because I was determined to reach the top of the pay plan for whatever other MLM Opportunity that came my way. You see, this time I didn’t want to just join another MLM opportunity without any marketing skills. I wanted to learn how the big boys were making all of their money because it sure didn’t seem like they were working as hard as I was.

    During this 8 month search, I was able to find out some very interesting facts about the network marketing industry.  Among other shocking stats, I found out that I wasn’t alone.  In fact, I was part of the majority.  95% of all network marketers fail & fail miserably.  Although that fact made me feel a bit better, I was still determined to find out the reason why.

     

    That brought me to Mike Dillard and his “Attraction Marketing” techniques.  These techniques shifted my mindset 180 degrees, because I was never taught to market in such an out-of-the-box manner.  That simple book opened my eyes to a totally different concept that, quite frankly, kept me in the industry.  You see, had it not been for the Magnetic Sponsoring course materials, I probably would have given up on the industry I so desired.

    What I learned is that the top MLM producers know how to attract people to them. Once they attract people to them they sell them small retail products before they sell them the bigger product.  That’s called, ’funded proposal’.

    This is the direction the MLM industry is going. But there is a huge problem though. Most network marketers,  don’t know how to successfully market their respective MLM businesses. Therefore, while you are trying to figure it out you either run out of money or you get so frustrated that you quit.

    But, there’s an answer to your problem.

    You can make money off people that need the information you can give them. Why?

    Because people pay to learn how to do things. I mean think about it, people pay over $1,500 per class to go to some universities to learn about things they probably will never use in the real world. But they do it anyway.

    I know many network marketers pay $150+ on tickets just to go to some of their company’s so called “big events”; and that doesn’t include the $500 spent on a hotel room, the $400 spent on plane tickets to get there, the $200 spent on food, and another $200-$300 just to have a little fun while they are there.

    Does this sound familiar to you?

    Those so called “Big Events” do not hold sessions on how to effectively setup a google adwords campaign. You don’t walk out of there knowing how to create and send people to a Data Capture page, build a relationship with those people, then recruit them-All automatically.

    FYI…That basic system that I just described could help someone like you personally recruit at least 50 people per month. As long as you take the time to learn the basics.

    So, if network marketers are willing to pay thousands of dollars on marketing materials and different trainings just to “get motivated”, then why would a network marketer refuse to pay just $39 to own an MLM book that gives step-by-step instructions on how to run their MLM business in today’s market? Not a book on motivation, but a detailed book on successful marketing tactics.

    You see, when I found Magnetic Sponsoring I learned how to attract MLM leaders to my business so I wouldn’t have to keep chasing people around that aren’t interested in me or my business. That’s all you have to do as well.

    Your goal should be to find a product that most network marketers need and be able to give it to them for a small profit. This will help you to fund your advertising efforts for your primary MLM business. But, I’m going to talk a little more about this in depth in another lesson.

    “The Most Important Marketing Method Is YOU!”

    Most network marketers fail because they don’t know how to really market their business. They focus on the following…

    Creating a big list of names of their family and friends
    Invite those people to “A Meeting”
    Get mad when most of them don’t show
    Then stalk those same people for life! (Yeah that was me too)
    Instead, as a network marketer, you need to learn how to get customers and prospects to come chase you down (Isn’t that a change).

    You see there is a whole world of network marketers that are struggling because they are practicing an old business model that will never work in today’s market.

    It doesn’t matter what you were told at the meeting you went to when you joined your great opportunity. The old marketing methods WILL NOT MAKE YOU RICH! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that time is gone.

    There are too many people out there with the “idea of the month” so it is hard for a good network marketer to come in with a solid company and a solid background to strut their stuff. But there is something called “MAGNETIC SPONSORING”.
    What is Magnetic Sponsoring?

    This is something that allows every marketer to become the hunted instead of the hunter. It means exactly what you think it means. Magnetic Sponsoring means people get attracted to you based on what you can provide to them.
